Leonardo Zuno’s Curriculum Vitae 5350 Amesbury Dr. #2211 Dallas, TX 75206 Phone: (817) 313-9546 Email: l.zuno@tx.rr.com QUALIFICATIONS Currently, I teach at Southern Methodist University, and Dallas/Music, Inc. I have completed two master’s degrees in music from SMU in: -Piano Performance and Pedagogy (May 2005) -Music Theory (May 2007), with a thesis titled Beethoven’s Compositional Tendencies in Selected Sonata-Allegro Movements for Piano. This thesis is a 181-page analysis of one of my favorite theoretical topics. After graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors from Dallas Baptist University, I entered the SMU Meadows School of the Arts master’s program to study piano performance and pedagogy. During my second year at SMU, I started a second master’s degree in music theory. I believe that studying music theory complements the study of piano: it has made me a better performer and teacher. I have taught at both of my Alma Maters as an adjunct lecturer. I also serve frequently as adjudicator for musical events across the DFW metroplex. EDUCATION 1994-1998 Studied at San Marcos Baptist Academy, where I graduated as the salutatorian and received a full scholarship for DBU. 1998-2003 Obtained a BM degree in piano performance from Dallas Baptist University. Studied piano under Dr. Richard Baca and music theory under Dr. Barbara Wallace. 2003-2005 Studied at SMU’s master’s program in the Meadows School of the Arts, where I completed a master’s degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. Studied piano under Prof. Alfred Mouledous and piano pedagogy under Dr. Sam Holland, Dr. Pete Jutras, Mr. Matthew Kline, and Dr. Cathy Lysinger. 2004-2007 Completed a second master’s degree in Music Theory, also from SMU. Studied music theory under Dr. David Mancini, Dr. Norman Wick, and Dr. Jacquelyn Hale. Ongoing Active member of MTNA, TMTA, and DMTA since 2004. EXPERIENCE Teaching 2002-2003 and Taught at The Master’s Touch School of Music. It is because of teaching at this school that I decided to 2004-2005 pursue piano pedagogy as a career. 2003-2005 While at SMU, I was awarded an assistantship in exchange for a 15 hr./week internship in the Piano Preparatory department at SMU, teaching children in private and group settings as well as college students in Class Piano and privately. The group classes I taught at the SMU piano preparatory program were for beginning through late intermediate students. I enjoyed working together with my supervisors to accomplish what I came here to do: become a better performer and piano teacher. 2005-Present I am currently teaching at Dallas/Music, a vital music teaching community. I am honored to be a part of the faculty at Dallas/Music, where I have a full studio and 5 group music theory classes. 2006 (Fall) Taught at Dallas Baptist University as an adjunct professor in music theory. 2007 (Spring)-Present At the invitation of the class piano coordinator, I returned to Southern Methodist University to teach class piano as an adjunct professor. 2008 (Fall) At the invitation of Dr. Robert Frank, head of the theory department at SMU, I will start teaching music theory and aural skills this coming semester at Southern Methodist University.
